According to the latest reports from Weather.com, Hurricane Matthew has intensified to a Major Hurricane Category 4 with wind speeds of up to 140 mph.
Matthew is currently at the northern tip of the Bahamas and traveling northwest at 14 mph.
According to the map of the latest projections, the storm’s eye will reach land near Melbourne around 8:00 am Friday morning. Winds, heavy rain, and possible tornadoes and flooding will reach as far West as Sumter county between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm Friday.
Residents Lake, Sumter, and Marion counties are warned to take shelter nearby as soon as possible if you live in a mobile home especially. Shelters are on a first come first serve basis and officials urge you to make plans right away before it is too late.
