LEESBURG – The Leesburg Police Department has teamed up once again with Real Radio 104.1 for their annual “Kicks 4 Guns” event. Leesburg Police Officers will be at Gator Harly Davidson in Leesburg on August 11th from 7 am to 3 pm offering Kicks (sneakers) or gift cards in exchange for them turning in their guns with no questions asked.
The event offers many residents the opportunity to dispose of guns without worrying about any legal action against them by offering them amnesty.
Kicks 4 Guns started 18 years ago and has spread to fifteen locations throughout Central Florida with law enforcement agencies from eight counties participating. In that time, the program has removed nearly 10,000 unwanted guns from the streets according to Real Radio 104.1’s Program Director, Jack Bradshaw who stated, “The fact that Kicks for Guns has removed nearly 10,000 unwanted guns from the streets of Central Florida is an amazing testament to the listeners of Real Radio and their desire to make our community safer.”
