LEESBURG – The City of Leesburg has invited the public and the media to join them in celebrating the completion of Kids Korner at a ribbon cutting ceremony. The ceremony will be held at the new location of the state-of-the-art park in Venetian Gardens on July 1 at 10:00 a.m.
Leesburg’s Public Information Officer, Derek Hudson, released a press release Tuesday morning announcing the ceremony. In the press release, officials state that Kids Korner marks the “first major milestone of a multi-phased project“ aimed to enhance Rogers Park.
Construction on the park began back in April with the removal of the old wooden playground structure and pavilion at Roger’s Park. The new GameTime playground equipment installations began starting in the middle of May and is expected to be completed by June 24.
The plan for the multi-phased Venetian Gardens project was approved by City Commission after holding several workshops and getting positive feedback from Leesburg locals.
“While it may have been a bit sad for kids who were not able to enjoy the playground during its construction, it is exciting to build a playground that is going to blow their minds,” said Mayor Jay Hurley. “Now that this phase is about complete, everyone can see our vision for Venetian Gardens coming to fruition — a vision to bring back Venetian Gardens as the Jewel of Leesburg and enhance the quality of life for our community.”
