TAVARES, Fla – The Lake County Animal Shelter is currently undergoing renovations and is searching for placements for a few of their senior dogs.
The shelter feels their senior dogs would benefit from being in a safe, comfortable home rather than in the kennels at this time. The dogs are up for adoption, fostering, rescue, or a shelter break foster. Shelter break foster is a program that allows interested parties to do a short-term foster for the dogs while also allowing the animals a much-needed break from shelter life.
There are currently four senior dogs up for adoption, fostering, or rescue in the shelter.
Magnolia is a 15 year old “super senior” who was found drowning in a pond by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. She is described as quiet, laid back, and occasionally a bit slow. Shela, age 9, is a lab mix stray who came into the shelter in late September. She has not yet been claimed.
Suki is a female chow mix who was returned to the shelter after an adoption last year, having been attacked by her owner’s other dogs. Suki has treatable dermatitis that is not contagious. Ladybug was turned into the shelter when her owner was left homeless. She is described as a wiggle worm who “loves everyone but cats.”
