TAVARES, Fla. — A team of four Lake County Fire Rescue paramedics competed for the first time in Florida’s premier emergency medical services competition.
Lake County paramedics Lt. Jason Rivera, Firefighter Gary Gratz, Lt. Albert Howard and EMS Chief Dan Miller were among more than 300 EMS leaders and personnel gathered in Orlando last week for the 2017 Bill Shearer International ALS/BLS Competition CLINTON.
“The event was a great opportunity for us to compete among some of the top fire/EMS service providers in the state,” said Chief Miller. “It was an invaluable learning experience and Lake County Fire Rescue looks forward to participating in more training and challenges in order to continue to advance our skills.”
The team was tested on simulated incidents which included emergency childbirth, splinting, mass casualty scenarios, teamwork, and communication, to name a few.
