Lake County Hosts Investiture Ceremony for Newly Elected County Commissioners

TAVARES – The Lake County Board of County Commissioners will be hosting an investiture ceremony and reception where the newly elected county commissioners will be sworn in.

The ceremony will be held on Tuesday, November 22nd at the Lake County Administration Building located at 315 West Main Street in Tavares at 9:00 am in the County Commission Chambers.

During the ceremony, re-elected Timothy I. Sullivan (District 1) and newly-elected Wendy R. Breeden (District 3), and Josh Blake (District 5) will take the Oath of Office and be sworn in. Afterward, there will be a reception and a regularly scheduled County Commission meeting after the intermission.

Commissioner Sullivan will be serving his second term on the board. Sullivan previously served as City Commissioner and Mayor of Fruitland Park. He also served as a Lake County School Board Member and was on the Board of Directors on the Central Florida Health Alliance.

Sullivan retired in 2009 as Brigadier General from the Florida Army National Guard after serving in the military for 33 years.

Commissioner-elect Breeden will begin her first term as County Commission for District 3. Breeden previously served as Lake County’s Public Resources Department Director from September of 2009 through January of 2016. While in that position, she was responsible for the oversight and administration of the Parks and Trail Division, Library Services Division, Extension Services Division, and the Lake County Fairgrounds. Breeden began her career with Lake County as a Library Coordinator in 1992.

Commissioner-elect Blake will also be starting his first term as County Commissioner serving District 5. Blake Graduated from Lake-Sumter State College and received his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of North Florida. He also graduated from the Leadership Lake Class of 2011. Blake previously served as a legislative aide for the Florida House of Representatives District 33. He also currently serves on the board of the United Way of Lake and Sumter Counties.
