Lake County Offers Free Tire Disposal for Residents

TAVARES — Tire Amnesty Day is specific a time that Lake County residents may dispose of up to twenty four passenger car tires that measure forty inches or less free of charge. You must bring government issued photo I.D. or proof of address.

This one time opportunity is sponsored by Keep Lake Beautiful, Lake County Solid Waste and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. The event will be held on Saturday, November 3, from 8 p.m. – 5 p.m. at the Lake County Landfill. The direct address is 13130 County Landfill Road, Tavares.

This event seeks to reduce the number of unsightly tires lying around, but more importantly the goal is to reduce the collection of still water, which is ideal breeding grounds for disease infested mosquitoes that carry the Zika virus.

Keep Lake Beautiful is an organization that seeks to lead the way to a cleaner and more beautiful Lake County through encouragement of local participation.
