TAVARES — To improve public bus service at key locations in Leesburg, Lake County Transit is announcing service enhancements to its LakeXpress Route 1.
Route 1 Eastbound
- Leesburg Regional Medical Center is now a timed point location. Bus drivers will remain at the stop to pick up passengers and depart at the scheduled time.
Route 1 Eastbound and Westbound
- Passengers will benefit from a reduced arrival and departure time at Lake-Sumter State College, which will be set at 25 minutes after the hour. This change will also improve arrival and departure times at Via Port Mall.
The service changes will take effect Monday, July 31.
LakeXpress provides public transit service throughout the county, connecting residents, visitors and employees to educational facilities, recreational activities and employment opportunities. It operates 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday. Buses do not run on Saturdays, Sundays and on federal holidays. Service animals are welcome and bicycle racks are available on buses.
Riders may board a bus at established stops along any of the seven designated LakeXpress routes: Route 1 – Leesburg to Eustis, Route 1A – The Villages to Leesburg, Route 2 – City of Leesburg, Route 3 – City of Mount Dora, Route 4 – Altoona to Zellwood, Route 50 East – Clermont to Winter Garden and Route 50 West – Mascotte to Clermont.
