Enjoy this Summer with Lake Front Nights at Ski Beach in Leesburg

Leesburg – The last couple of weeks have already proven to be the beginning of a very long and hot Summer. The last thing you want to do is be stuck at home through it all.

Don’t worry, you don’t have to. The City of Leesburg is bringing you Lake Front Nights. The event which Leesburg city manager, Al Minner calls the fun in the sun summer series, will be held on June 18th, August 20th, and September 17th starting at 5:00 until 8:30 p.m.

Come out and join others to enjoy live bands, DJ, food from some of the best food trucks in the area, and the tallest rock wall in Florida.

Lake Front Nights is part of a plan to revitalize Ski Beach to provide Leesburg residents a fun and active location for recreation.

Ski Beach is an old cornerstone of Leesburg history. “This was just all beach right here; people swam up here, this was all sand and Ski Beach was full. You could hardly find a parking place; it was that crowded and it was fun,” Commissioner Hurley stated in a 2013 interview with The Daily Commercial, “This place was jammed and we used to have a lot of activity.”

The City of Leesburg is currently working on several projects in and around Venetian Gardens to turn this dream into a reality. Over the course of the last couple of months, many changes have been made and there are more to come.

The new Kid’s Corner, a new “state-of-the-art” playground is expected to be completed just in time for the fireworks show on July 4th. Leesburg’s Public Information Officer, Derek Hudson, announced they are planning a ribbon cutting event. We will have more information on the development of Ski Beach and Venetian Gardens as it becomes available.
