Citrus County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Management Officials along with the Board of County Commissioners have declared a local state of emergency in preparation for Hurricane Matthew. Citrus County is now under a Tropical Storm Warning
Residents can expect winds on Friday ranging from 40 mph to gusts of up to 55 to 60 mph. Some rain is expected but storm surge is not predicted.
Citrus County Sheriff’s Office buildings will be closed tomorrow, along with Citrus County Schools and all county buildings.
For those in mobile homes or residences that could be impacted by winds, the following shelters will be open at 5:00 PM today. PLEASE DO NOT ARRIVE BEFORE 5 PM.

If you do not have transportation, Citrus County Transit can provide free transportation to the special needs shelter until 9 PM tonight (Thursday). Call 527-7630 if you need transportation.
