LEESBURG – A Leesburg man just could not take no for an answer when his girlfriend decided to separate from him. Alexander Robert McCormic II, 22, was arrested Tueday afternoon after his ex-girlfriend reported that he called her 48 times and texted her 22 times between Monday and Tuesday morning.
According to the arrest report, the victim who has not been identified told Leesburg Police that she and McCormic had recently separated. She told the officer that they had a child together and since the separation, McCormic would not stop calling or texting.
The report states that McCormic called the victim a total of 48 times and texted her 22 times since Monday morning. “There were several instances where the defendant even called the victim multiple times in under the course of one minute,” stated Officer Buxton in his report.
The victim also told LPD that she received texts from McCormic questioning her when she was at the courthouse filing for an injunction against him and then again later questioning why she was at a friend’s house. She had not told McCormic where she was and believed that he was following her or having someone follow her. She also stated that McCormic had been violent in the past and she was afraid that he would attempt to harm her.
Officer Buxton spoke with the victim’s mother who also stated that McCormic was calling her phone as well in an attempt to speak with the victim.
The arrest report also states that McCormic left several voicemails on the victims phone posing as various Leesburg Police officers in an attempt to get her to answer the phone.
McCormic was arrested and charged with Stalking Simple (Domestic), 2 counts of violation of probation: burglary, 2 counts of violation of probation: grand theft, violation of probation: trafficking in stolen property, and violation of probation: felony battery. He is currently being held in the Lake County Jail without bond.
McCormic is scheduled for arraignment on July 13 for the stalking charge and July 25 for the violation of probation charges.
