Man Crashed Car in Residents Yard, Wanted for Murder

BUSHNELL – Deputies from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office were surprised when the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations contacted them about a man they had in custody.

According to a press release, Deputies responded to a home in Bushnell located on SW 78th Avenue in reference to a man who had crashed in the backyard of a resident’s home on Wednesday, December 7.

The man, identified as 27-year-old Jeremy Lee Fleming was subsequently arrested after deputies learned that his license was suspended. Fleming was transported to the Sumter County Detention Center where he was held in lieu of a $500 bond.

However, before Fleming could post bail, deputies received a call from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations stating that Fleming was wanted as a person of interest in the murder of 51-year-old Robert Timothy Perkins in Bedford County, Tennessee on December 2nd.

Agents with TBI flew to Sumter County to team up with deputies in an investigation against Fleming.

During the investigation, Fleming’s brother, 29–year-old Myron David Fleming and a woman identified as 26-year-old Autumn Nicole Slade were arrested due to outstanding warrants for violation of probation out of Tennessee.

Jeremy Fleming was additionally charged with the murder of Perkins on Friday, December 9th.

All three suspects remain in the Sumter County Detention Center until their extradition to Tennessee.
