SORRENTO – A Sorrento man is currently behind bars at the Lake County Jail after allegedly beating his wife, handcuffing her, forcing her into a trunk and then leaving her on the side of the road almost a mile away from their home according to arrest reports.
Deputies responded to the intersection of Reef Drive and Nocatee Trail in Sorrento late Tuesday night after dispatchers received a call from a man who stated he heard a woman crying and calling for help just outside of his RV.
The man told deputies that when he went to check, he found the woman leaning against a chain link fence with multiple injuries.
According to the report, the woman stated that she was at home when 45-year-old Christopher Plale struck her numerous times in the mouth and in the back of her head before handcuffing her and forcing her into the trunk of their car.
Once in the trunk, Plale reportedly drove the woman almost a mile away from their home on Wekiva River Road and pulled her out of the trunk, leaving her on the side of the road.
The responding deputy stated in the report that when he arrived, he noticed visible injuries to her, mouth, teeth, knee, wrists, and the back of her head.
When questioned, Plale told deputies that he did not hit his wife, but admitted to handcuffing her, putting her in the trunk, and leaving her on the side of the road.
Plale was charged with false imprisonment and domestic battery. He remains at the Lake County Jail in lieu of a $20,000 bond.
