PALM BEACH, Fla. – A man who was responsible for three deaths in Lake County back in 2015 has finally been caught and arrested according to a Florida Highway Patrol press release.
Troopers arrested 26-year-old James Geoffrey Dameron when he attempted to flee from troopers on the Florida Turnpike in Palm Beach County on Tuesday.
Troopers and Seminole County Deputies located Dameron traveling southbound on the Turnpike in a white Mercedes SUV the report stated.
Damron had an active warrant in Seminole County as well as one in Lake County. The Lake County warrant was issued after an accident that occurred on the Florida Turnpike just after 4 a.m. on September 6, 2015.
According to the report, Dameron was traveling at a high rate of speed in a 2010 Mercedes SUV when he rear-ended a 2001 Nissan Maxima. Both vehicles erupted into flames and the occupants of the Maxima, 23-year-old Thomas Garza, 20-year-old Lillian Luna, and 1-year-old Brianna Garza who were traveling from Georgia, were killed in the crash.
After the investigation, officials from the Lake County State Attorney’s office issued an arrest warrant for Dameron for three counts of vehicular homicide and one count of driving while license suspended.
Almost 2 years later, Dameron was finally captured and arrested. He was transported to the Palm Beach County Jail where he remains on hold on both warrants.
During his arrest Deputies and Troopers found an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine and discovered that Dameron had tampered with an ankle monitoring device. He was additionally charged with fleeing or eluding police, driving with a suspended or revoked driver’s license, tampering with an electronic monitoring device, possession of drug equipment, and possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell.
Dameron’s half-brother, 24-year-old Joseph Kieran IV, was also arrested on drug charges. Kieran is currently being held in the Palm Beach County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
