The Marion County Sheriff’s Department will be opening a shelter Thursday, October 6th at 12:00pm for Marion County citizens. It will remain open until the storm subsides.
The shelter is located at the Marion County Sheriff’s Office Multi-Purpose room at 692 NW 30th Ave in Ocala. All homeless persons in the area are strongly advised to move to the shelter during the storm. House pets will not be allowed.
The sheriff’s department is urging that anyone with special needs register with Emergency Management for sheltering if they have not already done so. Visit https://snr.floridadisaster.org/Signin?client=marion.
Additionally, the South Eastern Livestock Pavilion will be opening 188 stalls as a shelter for livestock during the storm. Animals will be accepted from 8:00am – 5:00pm on a first come, first served basis at $10 per day. Owners must provide food and water.
