FRUITLAND PARK – A man who was arrested and charged with trafficking methamphetamine (meth) on Tuesday is back behind bars just one day after posting bail.
Shawn Rutig, 32, was arrested Tuesday during a raid on a Fruitland Park home that was believed to have been a chop shop.
During the raid, Rutig was arrested and charged with possession of meth, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, and possession of drug equipment.
After posting his $21,000 bond, Rutig was released a few hours after his arrest although his freedom was short-lived.
Rutig was arrested the following day after deputies served an order to revoke his bond from a previous arrest.
Rutig was previously arrested in April earlier this year where he was also charged with trafficking in meth, possession of meth, driving with a suspended license, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a medical drug without a prescription.
Rutig was released on bond after his arrest in April and was still out on bond from those charges at the time of his arrest on Tuesday.
Since he committed a crime while released on bond, an order to revoke his bond was issued. Rutig was then arrested on Wednesday.
During his last arrest, Rutig was asked by deputies if he had anything illegal on him to which he replied “no”.
While being booked, the booking officer searched Rutig and found a small bag of meth concealed in a pack of cigarettes.
Rutig was additionally charged with possession of meth and introducing contraband into a correctional facility.
Rutig remains at the Lake County Jail without bond.
