FELLOWSHIP — A Michigan man was pronounced dead after a collision in Fellowship Saturday afternoon according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
According to the report, a 54-year-old man who has not yet been identified pending notification of his next-of-kin was traveling northbound on CR 464B in a 2004 Toyota Camry.
The man came to a stop at the intersection of CR 464B and US Highway 27 and then proceeded to head northbound on US Highway 27 crossing the paved median and into the westbound lanes of US Highway 27 directly into the path of 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe driven by 41-year-old Penny Heatly.
Heatly then collided with the right side of the Toyota sending both cars spinning.
The Toyota left the roadway while spinning and overturning and came to rest on its driver’s side.
The Michigan man was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
Heatly was also transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center where she was treated for minor injuries sustained during the crash.
At this time it is unknown what caused the Toyota to cross the median and enter the westbound lanes. Investigators are still waiting on the results of a blood test to determine if alcohol was involved.
