MOUNT DORA, Fla. — Founded in 1922, the Florida League of Cities appointed a new member to serve on the 2018-2019 Land Use and Economic Development legislative policy committee.
Harmon Massey fills a new chair in the effort to support and continue service to Florida’s local cities. The committee members lead the legislation towards success and hold a significant role in the understanding and guidance of real-world implications related to legislation.
Before shifting into his new role within the council, Massey served our country well.
As an Air Force pilot, he led one hundred and fifty missions to Asia, and once retired as a colonel he continued his service for nineteen years as a judge advocate.
In addition to these services, Massey also became a trustee for Mount Dora’s Firefighter Pension Fund and served on a redevelopment committee. He then became elected as a council member for the city of Mount Dora in November of 2017.
Alongside the multitude of accreditations listed, Massey remains active in the community as a member of a local bowling club. He and his wife Lyn have resided in the Mount Dora area for nearly three years.
New members are appointed annually, and all city officials are eligible for future consideration.
The Florida League of Cities believes in the value of being formed and governed by citizens, and they strive to be the advocate and voice of their city.
