The Mount Dora Bicycle Festival has been postponed due to Hurricane Matthew, but the owners of downtown favorite The Magical Meat Boutique are making sure stranded cyclists and locals have a place to go for good food and drink during the storm. Owners Phil and Kate Barnard announced on their restaurant’s Facebook page tonight that they will stay open all night and into the morning hours to serve coffee and snacks overnight at no charge. “This is not about making money, other business owners are camping out as well,” Phil Barnard said on his Facebook page.
“The storm is not meant to hit until midnight and other places are closed to allow their staff to prepare their homes. This is our home in many ways. The Lakeside Inn is fully booked with evacuees. Most of our freezers are stocked with ice. Some don’t want to be home alone, and our building is as safe as we can make it. If we end up providing coffee and snacks throughout the night we will not be charging for it.” Parking is available in the parking garage around the corner on Donnelly Street.The Magical Meat Boutique is an English style gastro-pub serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner 7 days per week till midnight.
