LEESBURG — The fiscal year of Lake County’s annual budget starts today Oct. 1, until Sept. 30. The Office of Management & Budget will be managing the public funds approved by the Leesburg City Commissioners for a total of $168,596,408.
Highlights in the plan include the adoption of the current millage rate of 4.2678 mills, with a slight electric rate decrease of $1.30 for the first 1,000 kWh (residential). Commissioners also decided to reopen the Leesburg Public Library on Fridays, providing six days a week access to patrons.
Major capital projects in the budget include the creation of a Venetian Gardens/Main Street Streetscape and the Susan Street Park Redevelopment Plan. Continued improvements to the City’s transportation corridors and providing quality general and utility services are also included.
