No Charges Will be Filed Against Mother Who Gave Son a “Swirlie”

LEESBURG, Fla. — No charges will be filed against Kaitlyn Wolf, the mother who was seen in a viral video giving her 3-year-old son a “swirlie” according to police.

The Leesburg Police Department issued a statement Wednesday afternoon after concluding their investigation into the incident.

“The Leesburg Police Department worked tirelessly on this case throughout the weekend and gathered additional information to bring to the State Attorney,” the statement said.

According to the statement, detectives met with the State Attorney on Tuesday to request an arrest warrant for Kaitlyn Wolf. The children were interviewed by a Child Forensic Interviewer, the Leesburg Police Department Detective Sergeant, a State Attorney, and a DCF Investigator at which time the forensic team listed positive findings of “threatened harm of mental injury due to bizarre punishment”, however, were unable to determine any physical abuse or neglect and therefore the State Attorney’s office decided not to file charges.

“While we respect the decision from the State Attorney and the Forensic Team, this incident calls for continued intervention for the welfare of the children involved,” police stated.

Leesburg detectives asked the Department of Children and Families to assure the children remain safe and have a safety plan.

It is unclear at this time what plans are being made by the Department of Children and Families to keep the children safe.
