New Ocala FedEx Facility Hiring 500 People

OCALA – Central Floridians can look forward to some relief of endless job searching beginning in July.  The newly constructed FedEx facility, scheduled to open in August, will be hiring 500 employees.

In December 2014, Governor Rick Scott revealed that Ocala would be part of FedEx Ground’s national expansion. This expansion would include the 400, 000 square foot facility built on 150 acres located in the Ocala/Marion County Commerce Park just east of I-75 and north of US-27.

The project was expected to exceed a cost of $170 million. FedEx Ground also purchased an additional 26 acres for $3.451 million which was expected to be used for additional truck parking.

Governor Rick Scott was quoted in a December 2014 news release stating, “FedEx Ground’s decision to grow in Ocala and create jobs is great news for Florida families. I knew when I toured the location in the spring of 2013 that Ocala would be the perfect fit for FedEx Ground, and we continued working hard to help deliver this win for area families.”

FedEx Ground is seeking to hire 150 full-time and 350 part-time packers and package handlers. Starting pay will be $11-$12 an hour with additional increases within the first six months of employment. The company also provides many benefits including flexible schedules, paid time off, and health and dental insurance. The company also offers tuition reimbursement to employees who have worked at least 1,000 hours.

Hiring events for the company are scheduled for July 6 from 9am-12pm and July 7 from 5-8pm at the College of Central Florida Klein Conference Center, 3001 SW College Road, in Ocala.

Anyone who is interested in applying, must be at least 18 years of age and registered with the Employ Florida Marketplace (EFM). More specifics can be obtained by calling 800-434-JOBS(5627), EXT 1471 or by visiting Career Source CLM Calendar of Events.
