Ocala Teen Arrested for Attmepted Murder After Dispute During Card Game

OCALA – An Ocala teen was arrested in the early morning hours of Tuesday, January 10 according to the Ocala Police Department.

According to police, 19-year-old Tariq Douglas was arrested and charged with attempted murder after he allegedly shot and injured a friend during a dispute in a card game.

Police responded to the home on NW 20th Avenue at approximately 1:38 am on Tuesday in response to a call reporting shots fired. When officers arrived, they found the victim in a bedroom.

After speaking to witnesses inside the home, officers discovered that Douglas and the victim were playing a card game when the two began to argue. The argument then escalated at which time Douglas reportedly fired at the victim striking him in the arm and the abdomen.

The victim was transported to the Ocala Regional Medical Center and his condition is unknown at this time.

Douglas was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail where he was later released after posting a $10,000 bond.
