OCALA, Fla. – An Ocala man was arrested Sunday afternoon months after being involved in an accident that left a family of three dead.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, 31-year-old Travis Lee Johnson was charged with three counts of DUI manslaughter, three counts of vehicular homicide, four counts of DUI property damage, and careless driving as a result of an investigation of an accident that occurred on January 22, 2017.
According to troopers, Johnson was traveling westbound on State Road 326 near NE 25th Avenue in a 2015 Ford F-650 tow truck owned by Cash’s Towing when he traveled off of the road way taking out two mailboxes.
Johnson attempted to correct the vehicle causing the truck to travel directly into the path of another vehicle traveling eastbound.
The tow truck struck the oncoming vehicle head on. The occupants of the other vehicle, William Mccullough, Renne Mccullough and Ryan Mccullough, were all pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident.
After receiving results from blood tests during their investigation, detectives found that Johnson was under the influence of an unnamed drug(s).
Johnson was arrested just after noon on Sunday and transported to the Marion County Jail where he is being held in lieu of a $104,000 bond.
