One Dead, Two Critical in Head-on Collision with Semi Truck

GROVELAND – An accident that occurred Monday afternoon  in Groveland left two people in critical condition and one dead after a head-on collision with a semi-truck according to Florida Highway Patrol reports.

The incident occurred shortly after 5:00 pm on State Road 33 just south of Pine Island Road in Groveland.

According to the report, 63-year-old Norvilus Revange was driving southbound in a 2000 Toyota Sienna with 63-year-old Yves Charles and 46-year-old Herbert Charlestin in the passenger seats when he tried to pass a vehicle that was in front of him.

While trying to pass the vehicle, Revange merged into the northbound lanes directly into the path of a semi truck causing a collision.

Charlestin was pronounced dead at the scene.

Revange and Charles were both transported to Orland Regional Medical Center where they were both listed in critical condition.

The driver of the semi, 54-year-old Robert William Washeck was treated on the scene for minor injuries by EMS.

According to the report, Charlestin was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.
