DADE CITY, Fla – A single vehicle accident on State Road 50 in the evening hours of October 26 lead to the death of one person and damage to railroad equipment, Florida Highway Patrol reports.
Fifty year old Jeffrey Gommier of Dade City was traveling east in the outside lane of State Road 50 in a 1998 Chevy S10 when he lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle left the roadway and entered the outside shoulder of the road. From there, Gommier’s vehicle collided with a railroad service ladder, other railroad utilities, and the rail tracks. These impacts caused the truck to roll over multiple times before coming to rest.
Gommier was transported to Bayfront Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
