Paisley Man Dies in Motorcycle Crash in Volusia County

DELAND — A Paisley man was pronounced dead after a collision in DeLand according to Florida Highway Patrol reports.

Troopers responded to the intersection of U.S. Highway 17 and Spring Garden Avenue in reference to an accident involving a motorcycle at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

According to the report, 89-year-old Norma Hinderaker was traveling northbound in the left turn lane on Highway 17 preparing to turn onto Spring Garden Avenue when she turned directly into the path of 74-year-old Donald Sepanek who was traveling in the southbound lane of Highway 17 on his 2013 Triumph motorcyle.

Sepanek struck Hinderaker’s vehicle ejecting him from his motorcycle at which time he hit a pole.

Sepanek was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical examiners.

Troopers are still investigating the incident and have not said if any charges will be filed.

Sepanek was wearing his helmet at the time of the incident.

Hinderaker was not injured during the accident.
