Pedestrian Killed on Hwy 441 After Being Struck by Vehicle

OCALA – A pedestrian was pronounced dead after being struck by a vehicle Thursday afternoon on US Highway 441 in Ocala according to a  Florida Highway Patrol report.

According to the report, 28-year-old Christopher Wright was walking in the southbound lane of Highway 441 in the direct path of oncoming traffic when 33-year-old Grace Baker was traveling southbound in her 2016 Mada CX-9.

Baker was unable to see Wright in time to avoid him causing her to strike him with her vehicle. After hitting him, her vehicle left the road and came to rest on the grassy shoulder of Highway 441.

Wright was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead due to injuries sustained during the incident.

The incident is still under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol and charges are pending according to the report.
