OCALA – A pedestrian was pronounced dead after attempting to cross Interstate 75 just north of the US Hwy 27 exit in Ocala on Wednesday night.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, 36-year-old Trent Ryan Knight from Georgia was traveling northbound on I-75 in his 2001 semi truck near mile marker 354 when he struck a man trying to cross the interstate.
The incident occurred around 11:25 pm. Marion County Fire Rescue and Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
According to the report, the 22-year-old male pedestrian who has not yet been identified pending next of kin notification was pronounced dead at the scene by Marion County Fire Rescue.
No charges are pending in this case.
