DUNNELLON, Fla. — Officers from the Marion County Sheriff’s Department and the Dunnellon Police Department worked together to bring down a man charged with armed heroin trafficking as well as other felony and misdemeanor charges.
According to a spokesperson for the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, 38-year-old Michael Gore was arrested late Monday night after officers found a “trafficking amount of heroin” in his possession during a traffic stop.
Dunnellon Police Officer Eldon Raines was on patrol when he spotted Gore in a parking lot at the Wal-Mart located on North Williams Street. Raines had been notified earlier in the day by deputies that there was a probable cause arrest warrant for Gore in connection with other charges including false imprisonment of a woman and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Officer Raines immediately notified deputies of Gore’s location and pursued Gore until deputies were able to join.
Once deputies arrived, Raines and the deputies assisted each other in conducting a traffic stop and successfully took Gore into custody.
During the stop, officers searched Gore’s vehicle where they found a handgun that had been reported stolen, a “trafficking amount” of individually packaged heroin, methamphetamine, oxycodone, marijuana, and other various drug paraphernalia.
Gore, being a convicted felon, was subsequently charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon as well as various other charges including battery, kidnapping, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, grand theft, dealing in stolen property, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, armed trafficking in heroin, possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, grand theft of a firearm, and possession of s controlled substance.
Gore was transported to the Marion County Jail where he remains without bond.
