Arrest Made: Search Continues for Missing Leesburg Woman

LEESBURG – The search continues for a Leesburg woman who was reported missing early Thursday morning.

The woman identified as 84-year-old, Bernadine Montgomery, was last seen on Wednesday, June 15.

Leesburg Police Department official, Lt. Joe Iozzi, released a statement that says an investigation is currently being conducted by the Leesburg Police and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Lake County Sheriff’s CSI unit returned to the residence this morning at 102 Palmora Boulevard in Leesburg to further investigate Montgomery’s disappearance. Dive teams provided by the Sheriff’s office were sent to search the water in and around the Ski Beach area. A cadaver dog will also be used to assist in the ground search.

“Due to the suspicious nature of this case, security was maintained on both scenes during the nighttime hours and the investigation is ongoing at this time,” stated Iozzi in the statement.

Leesburg Police has been interviewing persons of interest and will continue throughout the investigation.

“There’s evidence that was found in the house as well as in the vehicle that we’re not releasing at this time,” Leesburg police Lt. Joe Lozzi said. “However, what we will say is that evidence suggests the possibility of foul play does exist.”
