LEESBURG, Fla. – A local Leesburg resident who followed the “See Something, Say Something” policy is to thank for the arrest of a man responsible for vandalizing a business late last Friday.
The witness, who has not been identified, contacted Leesburg Police after she heard glass breaking while she was sitting at the intersection of Main Street and 14th Street around 11 p.m. Friday night.
The witness stated that when she turned around to see what it was, she noticed a man who was later identified as 33-year-old Ian Roxburg standing in front of a business.
According to the witness, Roxburg was reportedly “busting the windows out” of the building with what appeared to be a piece of wood.
When officers arrived, they were able to locate Roxburg nearby. When found, he was carrying a skateboard that appeared to have damage on both ends of it.
Officers investigated the scene and discovered pieces of wood that matched the wood from Roxburg’s skateboard.
Officers also discovered broken glass shards all over Roxburg’s skateboard.
Roxburg was arrested and transported to the Lake County jail where he remains in lieu of a $2,000 bond.
Damage to the building is estimated to be over $1,000.
Police were able to make a quick arrest as a result of a resident implementing the “see something, say something” policy and are advising residents to always remember to report any suspicious activity.
