LEESBURG – Leesburg Police Officers arrested 26-year-old Alex Jones Tuesday afternoon after a mother reported that he had been sending sexual text messages to her 10-year-old daughter, according to an arrest report.
Officers responded to the call just after midnight on November 23rd. Once they arrived, the mother told them that Jones, who is known as “AJ” in the neighborhood, had sent several obscene sexual text messages to her daughter.
Officers looked through the victim’s cell phone where they found several obscene messages that Jones had sent to the child on November 21st that described sexual acts. After receiving several texts from Jones, the victim sent a text asking him to “stop texting that please…”
Officers went to Jones’s home to question him that night, however, there was no answer when they knocked.
Several hours after the initial report, the mother called the police again to inform them that she believed Jones was at his home. The mother also advised officers that she was at the hospital.
Officers met with the child and her mother at Leesburg Regional Medical Center where the victim then told officers that on November 22nd she had gone to Jone’s house and he “introduced his private parts to her private parts”, according to the report.
The victim also told officers that she had only had intercourse with Jones one time and that it occurred in his bedroom.
Investigators managed to contact Jones by phone on November 28th and set up and interview for the following day at the Leesburg Police Department.
During the interview, Jones denied the allegations and told detectives that he had a friendly relationship with the victim and that she was “pissed that he was texting other girls,” the report stated.
Jones was then arrested and charged with sexual battery on a child under 12 and sending obscene material to a minor.
Jones was transported to the Lake County Jail where he is being held without bond on the sexual battery charge until his arraignment on December 27th at 8:30 am.
