South Lake High Student Arrested for Bringing Weapon to School

GROVELAND – A South Lake High School student was arrested Tuesday afternoon after bringing a weapon to school.

According to arrest records, the 15-year-old student was seen by classmates displaying what appeared to be a pistol under his desk in class.

When questioned by deputies, the juvenile gave permission for Deputy Kirkland to search his backpack where he found a black and silver Daisy BB gun.

The gun was not loaded and the student did not have any BBs according to the report.

The student told deputies that he only brought the gun to school to “show it off to a few friends” and did not mean to harm anyone.

After securing the BB gun, the student was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds.
