Sumter Humane Society 35th Anniversary and Earth Day Event

Lake Panasoffkee The Humane Society/SPCA of Sumter County will be hosting an Earth Day event in conjunction with their 35th Anniversary Celebration on April 22. The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m and lasts until 2 p.m.

Guests are invited to learn about the Human Society/SPCA’s goal to construct Central Florida’s first green animal shelter while enjoying many activities and meeting adoptable pets. Events include a yard sale, shelter tours, exhibits, talks by a wildlife rehabber, and native Florida plant displays. Food, music, and give-away’s are also planned for the day.

Also included in the events will be an animal/nature/travel themed book swap. Participants are encouraged to bring with them books on these subjects and trade them for other books on the subjects. A community recycling event is also planned. Bring old pet-related items such as crates, beds, leashes, and litter boxes and receive a tax-receipt on the spot. Old cell phones, tablets, ink cartridges, and aluminum cans will also be welcomed at the recycling event.
