WILDWOOD, Fla. — The Humane Society/SPCA of Sumter County announced that they recently opened a space at the Wildwood Antiques Mall located at 364 Shopping Center Drive on US Highway 301 in Wildwood to help raise money for the animals.
The sales booth which the organization calls “Re-Tails” offers many antique and vintage items for sale. Proceeds from the purchases will go toward helping local animals in need.
Many supporters suggested that the Humane Society open a thrift store in order to help raise funds, however, due to the high costs of operating and leasing a space a thrift store was not an option.
The small booth in the antique mall offers the perfect opportunity to do so without the large commitment of resources.
Volunteers and members from the community joined the SPCA in their progress by helping with the retail space as well as donating goods to resell.
“As always, we appreciate all the different ways people show their support for our Humane Society to help us fund our vital work. Time will tell how this idea works out for us and if it’s a success, we will look into expanding the thrift store concept” said Celine Petrie, Chairman of the HS/SPCA.
The store has been open for a couple of months and the organization is inviting all animal lovers to come and stop by and shop to their heart’s content while supporting local animals.
Anyone interested in volunteering or donating items is asked to call the HS/SPCA office at (352) 793-9117.
