TAVARES, Fla. – Detectives with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and the Tavares Police Department arrested two people early Friday morning after executing a search warrant on a house they suspected to be used for dealing drugs.
According to a Sheriff’s Department press release, the investigation began in March after the department received numerous complaints from residents that lived near the home. Callers told detectives they believed drugs were being sold from the home.
After a two-month investigation, both departments served a search warrant on the residence located at 210 Shorewood Drive in Tavares where they found “trafficking amounts” of methamphetamine, pre-packaged marijuana, prescription pills, drug paraphernalia, digital scales, and a handgun.
During the search, deputies made two arrests, one of which was their primary suspect from the investigation, 38-year-old Robert A. Bruse.
Bruse was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute or sell, possession of a firearm and ammo by a convicted felon, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Lake County Jail where he is being held in lieu of a $81,000 bond.
Bruse is scheduled to appear in court to face those charges on July 26 at 8:30 a.m.
Deputies also arrested 54-year-old Dawn Gandall. Gandall was charged with possession of meth, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of marijuana less than 20 grams, and possession of drug paraphernalia. At the time of the arrest, Gandall was on probation which resulted in an additional charge of violation of probation.
A third occupant in the home was issued a summons to appear in court on a misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Deputies stated that there was also a child in the home at the time they executed the warrant. Department of Children and Families was contacted as a result. Another family member came to the residence to take custody of the child.
