Ocala Teen Dies in Fatal Car Crash, One Critical

OCALA – An Ocala teen was pronounced dead after an accident that occurred at the intersection of Highway 464B and NW 115th Avenue in Ocala according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.

The accident occurred just after 6:00 pm Sunday evening.

According to the report, 19-year-old Romario Fuenes-Salazar was driving his 2002 Pontiac Sunfire with 18-year-old Guaruin Funes-Herrera in the passenger seat when Salazar allegedly ran a stop sign as he traveled south on NW 115th Avenue and struck a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe that was traveling east on Highway 464B.

After the impact, Salazar’s vehicle continued through the intersection before colliding with a stop sign and a utility pole located on the shoulder of the eastbound lane of Highway 464B.

Herrera was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained from the accident.

Salazar was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition.

The occupants of the Santa Fe did not suffer any injuries.
