INVERNESS, Fla. — An 18-year-old teen was pronounced dead after a fatal accident that occurred Friday afternoon at approximately 3:48 p.m. according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
Rose Marie Lillian Plante was traveling eastbound on State Road 44 just west of South Brisson Terrace in a 2004 four-door Chevy when for an unknown reason she lost control of her vehicle and crossed over the median into the westbound lane of State Road 44 striking the rear of a 2006 Nissan pickup truck.
After colliding with the oncoming vehicle, Plante’s car rotated until it also collided with a pedestrian handrail and a fence.
Plante was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident due to injuries she sustained during the crash.
According to the report Plante was wearing her seatbelt at the time and troopers do not believe alcohol was involved.
