CRYSTAL RIVER – Troopers are searching for a suspect involved in a hit-and-run incident which left a Homosassa man in serious condition Monday night according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
The victim, identified as 19-year-old Philip Studnicka, was walking eastbound in the bicycle lane on West Fort island Trail near US Highway 19 when he was struck from behind by a vehicle, the report stated.
The vehicle did not stop to help Studnicka and left him with serious injuries.
Studnicka was transported to Bayonet Point Hospital where he remains.
No description of the vehicle involved has been released, however, it is expected to have some damage on the front passenger side.
The incident is still under investigation and charges are pending once troopers are able to locate the suspect.
