Sumter County Deputies found two women with gunshot wounds in a Bushnell home Saturday afternoon while responding to a 911 call.

The Sheriff’s Office received a call about a man who was trespassing just after 1:30 pm. The female caller, whose identity is not being revealed, told the dispatcher that , Michael Brown, 29, of Flatonia, Texas was on her property and he wouldn’t leave. Reports state that the dispatcher heard the female cry out and then the call was disconnected.

When deputies arrived at the home on SW 76th Lane in Bushnell, they found a 35-year-old female victim with a gunshot wound to the chest and a 21-year-old female victim with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. The woman who was shot in the chest was air lifted to the Ocala Regional Medical Center where she was listed in critical condition. The 21-year-old woman was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa and is now in stable condition. Brown had fled the scene before Deputies arrived.

While Deputies investigated the crime scene, they heard what sounded like gunshots coming from the wooded area behind the home. Deputies then called the SCSO S.W.A.T. team, K-9 Unit and Eagle 1 helicopter unit to help search the area.

With the help of all the units, Deputies found the Brown’s vehicle south of Breezy Oaks RV Park on CR 673. A perimeter was quickly established and Eagle 1 helicopter unit  spotted the suspect approximately 100 feet east of the vehicle in a wooded area.

When Deputies reached the suspect, he was hanging from a tree using a pair of jumper cables. Deputies also found a handgun at his feet.

An autopsy will be conducted Sunday morning to determine the official cause of death. However, Deputies believe that Brown committed suicide using his handgun after attempting to hang himself.
