WEBSTER, Fla. – A Webster man is possibly facing charges after a pregnant woman lost her unborn child due to injuries sustained during an early morning crash according to a Florida Highway Patrol report.
F.H.P. Trooper C. Fields responded to the scene located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 301 and Cornerstone Road in Webster at approximately 5:40 a.m. Wednesday morning in reference to a crash.
According to his report, Fields stated that 27-year-old Richard Brent Henderson was traveling eastbound on U.S. 301 in his 1999 Ford F-250 pickup truck in heaving fog as he approached the intersection at Cornerstone Road.
Fields stated in his report that Henderson failed to stop at the intersection and traveled into the path of a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox driven by 27-year-old Monica Montanez who was 33 weeks pregnant.
Montanez suffered serious injuries and was transported to the Lakeland Regional Medical Center where her unborn child was later pronounced deceased as a result of injuries Montanez sustained during the crash. The report indicated that Montanez was not wearing her seat belt at the time of the incident.
Henderson suffered minor injuries and was treated on scene by paramedics.
The incident is currently under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol and charges are pending although no specific charges have been mentioned at this time.
