LEESBURG – A Wildwood man was arrested after allegedly beating a pregnant woman during an incident near Maryland Fried Chicken Sunday night according to arrest reports.
According to the report, Leesburg Police responded to a call behind Maryland Fried Chicken in reference to a battery complaint from a witness.
Officers arrived and spoke with the victim who stated that 26-year-old Joe Sacramento Arredondo arrived at her house intoxicated and wanting to talk to her. The two sat in Arredondo’s vehicle in the driveway for a short while before he became angry and pulled her out of the vehicle, pushed her to the ground and began striking her in the head and face according to the statement.
Arrendondo allegedly continued hitting the victim numerous times in the face. At one point, the victim was able to free herself and grabbed a nearby brick telling Arredondo she would hit him with the brick if he did not stop.
Arrendondo then became angrier and continued to beat the victim. Arredondo took the brick from the victim and attempted to throw it at her but instead missed.
After throwing the brick, Arredondo fled the scene in his vehicle.
When officers arrived, the victim advised them that she was five weeks pregnant and that Arredondo was aware of her pregnancy since they had talked about it before.
Officers were unable to locate Arredondo after searching the area that night, however, he was located and arrested the following morning.
Arredondo was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and simple battery. He was transported to the Lake County Jail where he was later released after posting a $3,000 bond.
Arredondo is scheduled to appear before a judge for his arraignment on December 12 at 8:30 am.
