Wildwood Student Arrested in Connection to Dollar General Robbery

WILDWOOD – Sumter County deputies arrested a Wildwood Middle-High student Wednesday in connection with the armed robbery of the Dollar General in Coleman on Tuesday morning.

After receiving several tips, deputies were led to an unnamed 16-year–old in Wildwood on Wednesday. Deputies questioned the teen while he was attending school at Wildwood Middle-High.

During a search, deputies recovered a pellet gun from the teen’s backpack believed to have been used in the robbery. Deputies also found a small amount of marijuana.

The teen was charged with aggravated battery, possession of a firearm on school property, robbery, and possession of marijuana.

He was booked at the Sumter County Jail and later transferred to the Sumter County Juvenile Division.
