{"id":214004,"date":"2017-07-21T19:24:31","date_gmt":"2017-07-21T23:24:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress-1.tempurl.host\/?p=214004"},"modified":"2017-11-04T14:52:18","modified_gmt":"2017-11-04T18:52:18","slug":"lake-county-emergency-management-seeks-groups-individuals-adopt-emergency-shelter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thegraphicgeek.com\/demo-cflwire\/lake-county-emergency-management-seeks-groups-individuals-adopt-emergency-shelter\/","title":{"rendered":"Lake County Emergency Management seeks groups and individuals to \u2018Adopt an Emergency Shelter\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>TAVARES<\/strong>\u2014The Lake County Public Safety Department\u2019s Emergency Management Division is inviting volunteers to help their fellow citizens during a crisis by signing up to \u201cAdopt an Emergency Shelter.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The program offers an opportunity for civic, non-profit, faith-based, private or community organizations, and individuals to become involved in assisting the county\u2019s nine primary and 19 secondary emergency shelters during times of disaster.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis program provides much-needed support for shelters during all types of disasters, but most commonly during weather emergencies when people are displaced from their homes due to hurricanes, or flooding,\u201d said Tommy Carpenter, manager of Lake County\u2019s Emergency Management Division. \u201cBy volunteering, residents can make a significant impact in their community by offering a helping hand to these residents during a vulnerable and difficult point in their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Volunteers will have the opportunity to register residents, provide necessary information, help manage meals and assistance with pets as all shelters are pet-friendly.<\/p>\n<p>Emergency Management staff will offer a one-day training for all volunteers wishing to assist in shelter operations. After applicants have passed a county background check, they will be asked to agree to a one-year commitment.
