TAVARES\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u2014 Lake County has opened a point of distribution for water for Astor residents at the Astor Boat Ramp, 55400 Butler St. until 7 p.m. today and from 7 a.m. \u2013 7 p.m. tomorrow. The limit is one case of water per household. Water is for Astor residents only; identification may be required. Ice is not available.<\/span><\/p>\n

A voluntary evacuation order remains in effect for the Astor and Lake George areas. Those choosing not to evacuate may be faced with impassable roads and flooding, and may not be able to be reached by first responders in the event of an emergency. A no wake zone is being enforced on the St. Johns River until further notice. An idle-speed, no-wake zone means a vessel may not travel faster than required to maintain steerageway and headway.<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

Sandbag distribution is available 24\/7 at Lake County Fire Station 10, located at 23023 State Road 40.<\/u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

A river flood warning remains in effect for the St. Johns River near Deland and at Astor as moderate flooding continues to occur. Widespread heavy rainfall from Hurricane Irma has resulted in continued runoff into the St. Johns River basin. The river levels are forecast to remain above flood stage into next week, according to the National Weather Service. The river has leveled out at Astor after tidal effects brought levels to major flood stage. However, water levels will remain high and above flood stage in the area for the next several days.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Lake County Sheriff\u2019s Office and Lake County Fire Rescue have established a unified command to respond to emergencies.<\/span><\/p>\n
