{"id":215547,"date":"2017-09-28T14:07:47","date_gmt":"2017-09-28T18:07:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress-1.tempurl.host\/?p=215547"},"modified":"2017-11-04T14:47:05","modified_gmt":"2017-11-04T18:47:05","slug":"one-dead-umatilla-plane-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thegraphicgeek.com\/demo-cflwire\/one-dead-umatilla-plane-crash\/","title":{"rendered":"Pilot in fatal copter crash identified as Apopka man"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>UMATILLA \u2013 A pilot who died after crashing a gyrocopter in a Umatilla yard Thursday morning was identified Friday afternoon as 73-year-old James Pensinger.<\/p>\n<p>The Lake County Sheriff&#8217;s Office had reported the incident on Thursday, but the release of the pilot&#8217;s name had been pending notification of next-of-kin.<\/p>\n<p>Lt. John Herrell said deputies responded to a home in the area of Lake Dalhousie Estates, about\u00a011:20 a.m.\u00a0Thursday to reports of an experimental aircraft that had crashed in the yard.<\/p>\n<p>The pilot, the lone occupant, died on the scene.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cResponding deputies found one person on board the aircraft and that person is deceased,\u201d Herrell added.<\/p>\n<p>Herrell said workers in the area heard a loud pop, before seeing the home-built gyrocopter\u00a0plunge behind a tree line.<\/p>\n<p>The 38335 North County Road\u00a044A home is in a rural and lucrative neighborhood, Herrell said.
