BUSHNELL, Fla. \u2013 Sumter County deputies are calling the death of a 16-year-old girl found at a Bushnell home Sunday — a \u201chomicide.\u201d<\/p>\n
The suspect has been identified as Larry Darnell Peavy, 35, of Bushnell, and warrants on charges of first-degree murder, sexual assault with a weapon or force, kidnap-false imprisonment has been taken out for his arrest, according to a sheriff\u2019s press release.<\/p>\n
Peavy was last seen driving a gray 1997 Nissan Sentra, that officials eventually located, unoccupied in the Fort Pierce area.<\/p>\n
The girl, whom police found on the floor, was identified as Alea Jackson.<\/p>\n
Michelle Keszey, sheriff\u2019s office spokeswoman, said deputies received a call from the Tavares Police Department for a well-being check about 2 p.m. Sunday for the girl at a home in the 300 block of South Pine Street in Bushnell.<\/p>\n
According to a police report, another juvenile girl had\u00a0showed up at a Tavares hospital and reported she had been raped at the Bushnell home\u00a0and then\u00a0someone named “Larry” dropped her off.<\/p>\n
She added Jackson was still at the home, unconscious. Deputies arrived at the pink home and found the girl deceased.<\/p>\n
No further details were given out on her or the case. However, Keszey did say in a phone interview Monday that the death has been determined a homicide. The police report added a neighbor said she saw Peavy drinking with two girls about 3 a.m. that morning, and they were “partying” and “appeared to be having a good time.”<\/p>\n
The neighbor added she later saw Peavy leave the home about 8 a.m. with\u00a0one of the females.<\/p>\n
She was the second dead body found in Sumter County on Sunday that has been ruled a homicide.<\/p>\n
