LEESBURG — Lake County deputies arrested a second suspect involved in a robbery that occurred\u00a0on December 7 last year at the Speed Track (Citgo) located at 2999 West Main Street in Leesburg according to arrest reports.<\/p>\n
According to the report, 29-year-old Antoino\u00a0McCovery was taken into custody Tuesday night in Tavares after a warrant for his arrest was served.<\/p>\n
McCovery, along with two other suspects, identified as 26-year-old Richard McCovery and 23-year-old Japrea Lacey is accused of robbing the Citgo gas station at the corner of Main Street and State Road 44 in Leesburg at gunpoint.<\/p>\n
According to the arrest warrant, the three suspects were identified by two anonymous tips after deputies released descriptions on social media.<\/p>\n
The suspects are accused of entering the store at 5:30 a.m. and forcing the store employee to lay on the ground while one of the suspects grabbed a pack of cigars and emptied the cash out of the register.<\/p>\n
Video surveillance taken from the store’s security cameras showed Antoino\u00a0McCorvey and Lacey entering the store as Richard McCovery held the door open and acted as a lookout. The footage also showed Antoino\u00a0forcing the clerk to the floor at gunpoint as Lacey grabbed the cigars and cash.<\/p>\n
While making their escape, Lacey reportedly ran into the door causing her to fall to the ground and drop the cigars.<\/p>\n
The three suspects then fled the area driving a stolen burgundy Chevrolet TrailBlazer which was recovered a few hours later at a home on Mispah\u00a0Avenue.<\/p>\n
After circulating images from the video surveillance, deputies received two anonymous tips identifying the three suspects as the McCoverys and Lacey.<\/p>\n
Antoino\u00a0McCovery was served an arrest warrant and transported to the Lake County Jail. He is being charged with armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and using a weapon while committing a felony. McCovery remains at the Lake County Jail in lieu of a $70,000 bond.<\/p>\n
Richard McCovery was arrested on January 8 on an unrelated charge\u00a0and was still incarcerated when deputies charged him with being a principal to an armed robbery. He remains in the Lake County Jail in lieu of a $51,000 bond on both charges.<\/p>\n
Japrea\u00a0Lacey had recently been released from the Lake County Jail on January 27, also on an unrelated charge, after posting a $4,000 bond. At the time of this report, there is no record of Lacey’s arrest in connection with the robbery. She is scheduled to appear in court on her previous arrest on February 14.
