Over the last 12 years, Lake County Transit Division staff and volunteers collected more than 45,000 items for those in need.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Again this year, the county is seeking donations of nonperishable food to be stuffed inside a Lake County Connection bus. All food donations will benefit the Lake Cares Food Pantry in Mount Dora. Lake Cares is a not for profit 501 (c)(3) organization serving poor to middle-class families, seniors and individuals with disabilities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nonperishable food items accepted for donation include canned meats, vegetables, fruits, stews and chili, canned or dry soups, canned or packaged pasta, peanut butter, tea bags and ground coffee, hot and cold cereals, rice, cake and pancake mixes, syrup, powdered milk, juice boxes, granulated sugar, baby food and formula, granola and cereal bars and dry or canned pet food.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Those who can\u2019t make it to the event can drop off nonperishable food items at the Lake County Transit Division\u2019s office, located at 2440 U.S. Highway 441\/27 in Fruitland Park,\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_2038653782\">Monday<\/span>\u00a0through\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_2038653783\">Friday<\/span>, between\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_2038653784\">8 a.m. and 5 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Volunteers are also needed to work shifts of two hours or more beginning at\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_2038653785\">8:45 a.m.<\/span>\u00a0and ending at\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_2038653786\">5:15 p.m.<\/span>to help encourage people to donate items and pack food into the buses.
